PITA

Picture
Pita is SUCH A SWEET BOY!!!! We are heartbroken for him and for his family. Pitas family reached out to us in tears as they need to re home him because they lost their jobs and their home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Scroll down 👇🏻 to read what they wrote about him, you can see how loved he was.

PITA IS:

✅ 12 years young
✅ Up to date on vaccines
✅ Neutered
✅ Microchipped
✅ Neagtive for FIV/FELV
✅ Good with dogs, kids and likely another calm cat
✅ Adoption fee $200

Pita has hyperthyroidism, this is managed through a prescription diet that costs about $40 per month. (He is no longer eating the homemade food his prior family mentioned below)

From Pita’s Mom:

“Pita's Biography

Pita - also called "Pita the Bread Man", "Bread Man", "Little Man", "Pita the Good Man".

Pita was born in Avondale, Arizona. We chose April 19, 2010 as his birthday (a guess, but probably pretty close). He came from a little old widow who was advertising kittens in our local small newspaper/advertiser. When we went to get a kitten, she said 'oh dear someone just came and got the last two'. . . but then she said 'wait a minute' and brought out Pita (he was maybe 8 or 10 weeks old) and said nobody wanted him. He was kind of funny looking as a kitten, unlike the cuteness of most kittens he had a long face. But Max said we would take him. So we brought him home to Tonopah, AZ. . . and it was like the Ugly Duckling, he grew into his long face and became this very handsome cat.

Pita lived in two places in remote northern California from the time he was maybe 6 months old to about 5 years old. He was an outdoor/indoor cat during those years. (He's still very agile, a patient and worthy mouser!) For 28 months Pita lived in northern Vermont where the house had a huge 8ft x 8ft window with a bird feeder just three feet away from the glass!

From 2014 on, Pita has been an indoor cat. . . though recently we have let him go outdoors for short, closely-monitored periods of time, and where he stays very close to the house.

Pita has been on homemade food (wet food made from chicken and chicken liver with added nutrients, a recipe developed by a veterinarian - see below for link) for about 2 years (late 2018). He still eats small amounts of dry grain-free food (Merrick Pacific Catch raw-infused kibble) - still mostly wet food, so it's almost more like having crackers with his stew. He loves the water squeezed out from a tuna can. Occasionally he gets a teaspoon or so of tuna. Also loves sardines and mackerel (small amounts of those). Plain whole milk yogurt (the high-protein type), a teaspoon maybe 3 to 5 times a week. Likes "Greenies" fish flavor (tuna or ocean fish especially) - he knows them as "green fish" (what we've always called them). Any high-quality cat treats such as raw, freeze-dried meat or fish. Catnip - fresh or dried.

Pita is friendly with people (his curiosity overcomes his shyness fairly quickly); lived with two different dogs (one at a time) during at least 10 years of his life (both were non-aggressive dogs that were accepting of cats); he's probably not friendly with other cats (though he has lived with two other cats pretty much his whole life, he has the "top cat" attitude); can be very vocal with loud vocalizations at times (may have Siamese genes? - a vet tech suggested this). We tried letting him be outdoors inside a large enclosure (12x16 feet) but he does not like to be contained even in a large area. In terms of traveling. . . he has not ever had motion sickness (though when we know he'll be traveling we withhold food for at least several hours) - but he does not particularly like to travel - mostly due to being contained, and he loudly voices his displeasure about it. . He's as sweet as pie and likes to rub on your leg. . . likes to have people come to him to give him attention : )

Likes:
the foods listed above. . . and catnip
being petted
being called "good man" in a soft voice
sunshine
a nice soft bed (or several beds - all the better)
watching birds

Dislikes/Fears:
plastic bags
vacuum cleaner
loud noises
being contained”

CHLOE & WIDGET

WHO LOVES CHONKY KITTIES?!
Chloe & Widget are available for adoption!

* although we all love chonky kitties it is best for their health if they loose weight and they need a family willing to continue their weight loss journey.

These two senior sisters found themselves homeless when their owner passed away.

Please read what their human foster sister had to say about them.

“Widget is a lap cat. This cat loves her attention, she will even grab your hand with her paw and pull you closer if you don't pet her when she's near you (she doesn't use her nails). Widget is a social eater meaning she mostly eats when someone is around. She will graze her food and only eat a little at a time. Widget loves to play at times and likes the Lazer and interactive toys the most. She also loves mice. Widget is a lawn mower when it comes to pures. She loves her brushings and will rub up against the brush if you hold it steady. This would be a great cat for any home with any gender cat and any age that will respect her.

Chloe is a love bug she will not sit in your lap that much but she will run to you looking for attention. This cat loves to be pet. She prefers wet food but will steal some of widgets dry food occasionally. Chloe likes to have a space to chill that is quite. Chloe does not bite she will just move away from you if she does not want to be pet. Chloe likes to play. She prefers quiet feather toys . Chloe loves to bask in the sun. This cat is truly amazing and would do well in a quiet home with people who will respect her when she wants time alone.”

CHLOE & WIDGET ARE:

✅ 12 & 13 years young
✅ Spayed
✅ Up to date on vaccines
✅ VERY FRIENDLY
✅ LOVE to be brushed
✅ Most definitely lap cats!

They must be adopted together!

FLUFFY

Fluffy loves attention but is still easily spooked so quiet home would be best. She still like to wrestle and play with other cats and loves to be held but prefers to drape her front half over your shoulder or arm. She loves to play with toys either with another cat or a human but not really by herself.

FLUFFY IS:

✅ Approximately 5-7 years young
✅ Spayed
✅ Up to date on vaccines
✅ Negative for FIV/FELV
✅ Friendly and a little timid
